Thermoplastics

These types of plastics will soften when they are heated and can be shaped in this state. When they cool they harden but on reheating become malleable again. This means they are recyclable and are more environmentally friendly than other plastics/polymers.

High Impact Polystyrene (HIP's)

It is good for insulation, it can be soft and spongy or or hard and brittle depending on he density and it's intended purpose,

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

Hard wearing and stiff. Plasticisers  can be added to make it more rubbery. Can be used for air and water pipes, chemical tanks, shoe soles etc

Polypropylene (PP)

High strength and impact resistant. It softens at around 150 degrees and is flexible which stops it from breaking. It is used in bottles, crates, medical equipment, syringes, food containers and many others.

Acetate

This is a film used for packaging, printing and overlays. Film is available in a variety of finishes such as clear, matt and gel coated.
